This Policy explains what happens when you publish a CV on CrewMag and make it accessible via a public link ("Public CV"). It supplements, and should be read together with, the Terms of Service (in particular §6, Public CV publication, and §5, User content) and the Privacy Policy. Where this Policy and the Terms of Service address the same topic, the Terms of Service govern the contractual relationship; this Policy focuses specifically on what becomes visible and to whom.
This Policy applies only to CVs you have explicitly published. CVs that have not been published remain private and are not covered by this document.
CVs on CrewMag are private by default. A CV becomes a Public CV only when you take the explicit "Publish" action in your dashboard. Publishing is entirely your decision — you are never required to publish a CV to use the Service.
When you publish a CV, the following information — to the extent you have filled it in — becomes visible to anyone who has the public link, without any login or authentication:
You control several of these fields individually through show/hide toggles in the editor (professional summary, key highlights, education, project scope, visa information, date of birth). Fields without a toggle are shown whenever you have filled them in. It is your responsibility to review what you enter and what you choose to show before publishing.
We do not add, infer or supplement any information beyond what you have entered.
As set out in the Terms of Service §5, we do not verify, validate or certify any Content, including certificates, sea service records or work history. A Public CV reflects exactly what you entered. Recruiters and other viewers should treat it accordingly, and you remain solely responsible for the accuracy of what you publish.
A Public CV is accessible to anyone with the link, anywhere, without registration. This means:
If you are not comfortable with any piece of information being seen by an unknown, unrestricted audience, do not include it in a CV you intend to publish, or hide it using the available toggles before publishing.
You can withdraw a CV from public access at any time using the "Unpublish" action in your dashboard. Unpublishing removes public access to the CV going forward.
If you publish the same CV again later, a new link is generated each time you publish. If you have previously shared the link with someone and no longer want that specific link to work even after republishing, contact support@crewmag.net.
Unpublishing cannot retrieve copies that third parties may already have made (see §5), and cached versions may remain accessible for a short period outside our control.
If you request deletion of your account, any Public CV is withdrawn from public access immediately, before the rest of the account deletion process (described in the Terms of Service §9) takes place.
Publication is subject to the same eligibility rule as the rest of the Service: the Service is intended for users who are at least 18 years old, confirmed by self-declaration at registration (Terms of Service §2). We do not verify age or collect date of birth at registration.
Publishing a CV can expose personal information — including, if you choose to fill it in, your date of birth — to an unrestricted public audience. If we become aware that a Public CV belongs to a person under 18, we may unpublish it and suspend or delete the associated account.
Publishing a CV is an action you take yourself, using controls we provide, rather than something we do to you. Where publication involves the processing of personal data — including any data that could be considered a special category under Article 9 GDPR, such as visa or health-adjacent certificate information you choose to include — our basis for making that data available to others as directed by you is your explicit action and, where applicable, explicit consent under Article 9(2)(a) GDPR. You can withdraw that basis at any time by unpublishing, subject to §6 above.
[LEGAL REVIEW REQUIRED] This section describes the Operator's current understanding of the legal basis for publication, drafted conservatively as a precaution. It has not been reviewed by a qualified lawyer. Given the international reach described in §5 and the involvement of potentially sensitive data (visa status, certificate information), this section should be reviewed before any non-beta release.
This Policy is versioned, in the same way as the Terms of Service (§10) and the Privacy Policy. Each version carries a version number and an effective date. Where a change is material, we will notify registered Users before it takes effect. Continued use of the publication feature after a new version takes effect constitutes acceptance of that version.
